We now offer a range of lessons from our Burton On Trent studio to get you started in lampworking.

All the courses are one on one, with both Ruth and Andy available the maximum class size will be 2, this means you will get as much time at the torch as possible.

Courses are as follows:

Lampwork Beadmaking Taster Session

This is a 3 to 4 hour taster session to give you a sample of bead making, ideal if you are unsure if lampworking is for you.

All aspects of bead making for beginners will be covered, tools & equipment, health & safety, types of glass etc followed by demonstration of basic tasks such as pulling stringers and making a basic bead. At the end of the course you will have made a basic bead and have an idea of what you need to start making your own beads. All beads made on the day will be posted to you after they have been annealed in our kiln.

The course can run either morning or afternoon to suit your needs and refreshments will be provided. Weekend dates are available but limited, we will contact you after purchase to book the date.

Lampwork Beadmaking Full Day Introduction

This is a full day intensive course to give you an introduction to bead making.

All aspects of bead making for beginners will be covered, tools & equipment, health & safety, types of glass etc followed by demonstration and practice of basic tasks such as pulling stringers and making various types of basic beads.

At the end of the course you will have made several styles of bead and be familiar with the tools and equipment of bead making and how to use them safely. All beads made on the day will be posted to you after they have been annealed in our kiln.

We aim to run the course 9:30 am - 5:00pm with a break for light refreshments but times are flexible around your needs. Weekend dates are available but limited, we will contact you after purchase to book the date.

Lampwork Beadmaking 2 Day / Weekend Course

This is a 2 day intensive course to give you an introduction to bead making.

All aspects of bead making for beginners will be covered, tools & equipment, health & safety, types of glass etc followed by demonstration and practice of basic tasks such as pulling stringers and making various types of basic beads. The second day of the course will cover any aspects you would like to concentrate on, from discussing equipment options in detail, practicing different types of bead or trying your hand at more complex beads, its up to you.

At the end of the course you will have made several styles of bead, be familiar with the different tools and equipment of bead making, how to use them safely and which ones may be most suitable for you in setting up your own studio. All beads made on the day will be posted to you after they have been annealed in our kiln.
